Terms of Service, Privacy policy

FurNIC provides large amounts of the registered data to the public. There is no specific selling of any user data in order to earn money. See the Terms of Service for details.

Terms of Service

Preamble

FurNIC is a Network Information Center providing the Top Level Domain "fur". FurNIC also provides management for the RFC 6264 IPv4 address space to Common Network Infrastructure (CNI) partners. FurNIC operates in the hope to provide a place for all Furrys, Fans of the Furry Fandom and everybody who is into animals and plants and other beings in general.

FurNIC tries to be transparent and democratic and a place of free and speech and invites everybody to join and help those goals to be reached.

General rules

• Currently the service of FurNIC is free of charge. This may change at any time without prior notice. All users can terminate the contract if a product they use will change to a paid service.
• FurNIC may delete registered domains, and address allocations if they conflict this Terms of Service, be expired, not configured three months after registration, domains are "Parked" for more than six months or FurNIC is forced so by legal actions.
• Expired domains, and address allocations may be kept active or reserved by the FurNIC operators for any reason preventing re-registration.
• Domains, address allocations, and information provided by FurNIC must not be used for spamming, phishing, assumption of authority, or impersonation of someone else.
• Domains, and address allocations should have a description provided. The description must match the use of the domain, or allocation.
• All domains, and address allocations are manually approved by the FurNIC operator team. The Team may delay the approval to ask for a new description of the domain, or address allocation.
• There must not be registered more domains, or address allocations than needed.
• It is not allowed to sell domains, or addresses allocations.
• Changing the owner of the domain, or address allocation is always done by deleting the domain, or address allocation and registering it by the new owner. FurNIC may be informed of this to help with a smooth transition.
• FurNIC is providing all information FurNIC has about a user, domain, or address allocation except for session and login data to the public.
• FurNIC currently uses the Single Sign On of Fellig.org (Fellig SSO). By using FurNIC's services you will need a Fellig.org account. By registering a Fellig.org account you also accept the Terms of Service and all relevant Rules of Fellig.org.
• FurNIC is allowed to shut down parts or all of its services temporary for maintenance at any time without prior notice.
• FurNIC is allowed to terminate any user contract or shut down any service or part of a service or all services for a specific user if that user uses the service or services to an extent that the load can not be handled by FurNIC and would harm other legitimate users.
• While FurNIC tries to run a stable service loss of data can happen. In such an event there can not be any legal claims against FurNIC.
• FurNIC is allowed to change this Terms of Service at any time without prior notice. If the Terms of Service are changed users will accept them automatically at the next login.
• If a provision of these Terms of Service is or becomes illegal, invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, that shall not affect: the validity or enforceability in that jurisdiction of any other provision of these Terms of Service; or the validity or enforceability in other jurisdictions of that or any other provision of these Terms of Service.

Domains registrations

• Domains should be related to aspects of being Furry, personal services of Furrys or related to nature or animals.
• Domain names are first-come, first-serve, excluding those reserved for operational matters.
• Domain names must be consistent with the relevant RFC.
• Domain names with less than four letters are considered reserved and will only be approved if the domain description qualifies the domain as valid use of the limited namespace of three or less letter domains.

Common Network Infrastructure address allocations

• FurNIC manages the RFC 6264 IPv4 address space for the partners of the Common Network Infrastructure. FurNIC is not authoritative for this address space on a global level, however is accepted as authoritative for it within the partners.
• In addition to the address space FurNIC also manages the corresponding DNS reverse zones.
• Allocations that are marked for private and dynamic usage can be freely used by everyone. These networks must never be routed between partners.
• Every partner can allocate no more than 524288 IP addresses (13-bit mask).
• Every partner can split its allocations into subnets at will. This does not unbind from these terms.
• Data can be routed between partners freely. All traffic must be treated equitably to ensure neutrality. Traffic which is only used for keeping the infrastructure working may be treated differently. Data that is only passed within a partner's infrastructure may be handled differently.
• FurNIC coordinates efficient routing between partners.
• Routing between the Common Network Infrastructure and other networks must be handled using gateways. For routing into the public IPv4 space a NAT gateway must be used.
• If any partner operates any gateway between the Common Network Infrastructure and other networks that can be used to interact with any addresses outside the partner's own allocations the partner must announce the gateway to FurNIC. The announcement must include at least information on which networks are connected and how to contact the administrators. Additional information such as hostnames, and descriptions can be provided.
• All partners acknowledge that the Common Network Infrastructure is an open network and should be handled in the same way as the public internet in regards of security unless actions to ensure higher security are taken and that FurNIC is not responsible for any damage caused by any traffic within the network.
• New partners can join the Common Network Infrastructure by request to FurNIC. FurNIC will then get in touch with the requester to discuss requirements, technical options, and alternatives.

Users

Natural persons

• Every Natural person is free to register domains.
• Natural persons are free to provide any content not conflicting with the general rules but content that is oriented only to make money.
• Content provided by domains registered by natural persons is not judged in any way by the FurNIC.
• If the user is not having legal capacity such as a child (by law) or an animal FurNIC must at all times be informed about the corresponding legal guardian.
• Anonymous natural persons are welcome but FurNIC is allowed to delete all domains, and address allocations registered by and terminate the contract with and ban from the services all anonymous users at any time without prior notice.
• Natural persons must use their personal Fellig.org account.

Non-natural persons

• Every registered non-natural person is free to register domains.
• Non-natural persons are allowed to use domains registered by FurNIC within a business model and make money using those domains.
• Domains registered by non-natural persons must not provide content that is discriminating any group of beings or asking for or doing any propaganda about harming any being physically or psychological.
• Domain registrations by non-natural persons require a domain description provided with them.
• Non-natural persons must not sell any alive or dead beings (including but not limited to animals and plants), or products made out of them.
• Anonymous registrations of domains or any other service provided by FurNIC requiring login by non-natural persons are not allowed.
• Non-natural persons must use a Fellig.org account of that entity which is not a personal one and must state that it's about the non-natural person holding it.

Non-registered entities

Non-registered entities such as (but not limited to) groups of natural persons operating in a way similar to registered non-natural persons or non-natural persons being in the founding process must keep FurNIC informed at all times about the responsible persons (President, Head office, board, ...). Beside that they are handled like registered non-natural persons.

The basic DNS service

The basic DNS service is to help those who have no infrastructure to host at least two independent DNS servers. This service is not part of the primary task of the FurNIC and may be terminated at any time without prior notice.

The Whois service

FurNIC provides a Whois service via a Whois server as well as via website. Those services are free of charge. Usage of the service and the information provided is only limited by the terms above.
